A 1931 Cadillac V-16 Fleetwood all-weather phaeton, with the hood ornament and chrome carrying much of the composition. This was one of my first paintings at the larger scale, from a time when I still avoided backgrounds because I worried they would distract from the car. My office was next door to Hill & Vaughn in the 1990s, and they would often have cars outside for me to photograph.
